R.I.P. Aldora Clever

July 5, 1922 ~ June 15, 2017 (age 94)

It is with great sadness that Aldora Clever has passed away. She was born the eldest daughter of Raymond Earl and Nettie (Slagle) Beers who had 15 children. She was a lifelong resident of the community and was an active member at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.

However, RIP is surely not what we mean; this is hardly descriptive for the loss that we feel as friends or relatives. Perhaps we should say what we really mean. “Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the life you shared with me; thank you for the dinners, the books, the laughter, and the connection.” Isn’t that what we really mean? Who wants to rest in peace and molder away in a grave? I hope Aldora is singing and dancing. I hope that, finally, after 27 years apart from her beloved husband they are holding each other close.

Aldora Harriet Beers married Russell E. Clever Sr. on September 27, 1946. These are photos from their 25th Anniversary celebration.

These beautiful people had two children; Russell E. Clever Jr. and Ida Mae (Clever) Olinger, who passed away December 24, 2009. Aldora was also preceded in death by Russell Sr. on April 21, 1990. They leave behind one son, Russell E. Clever Jr., 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her life was long and fruitful. She loved to cook, garden, and can foods. To craft, crochet, do puzzles and puzzle books. She liked staying at the Dayton Fair with family. But most importantly, she loved others whole-heartedly and made them laugh. In addition, I’m pretty sure that she never met a product on an infomercial that she didn’t order. LOL

She spent her last few years in the Armstrong County Health Center; however, she was not stagnant. She went out on occasion and attended most of the events held at the center. She will be sadly missed by all who were privileged to know her.
